DAGUPAN CITY COVID-19 CASES

DAGUPAN City has registered the highest death toll for COVID-19 in Pangasinan to date.

As of 9 p.m. on October 22, the city of Dagupan already registered 17 deaths from COVID-19 infection, three are believed to be members of a Filipino-Chinese family with a business shop in the city’s downtown area two weeks ago.

A report reaching The PUNCH stated two other sibling were also confined and are recovering. As a result of the tragedy, the business establishment of the Fil-Sino siblings had been closed and will reopen only sometime in November after thorough disinfection and decontamination.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Health Office reported that the latest fatality recorded in Dagupan was a 63-year-old man who died in the hospital on October 21 where he was confined since October 9.

Earlier registered deaths were from Barangay 1 (3), Poblacion Oeste (3), Bonuan Gueset (2), Lucao (2), Bolosan (1), Careanglaan (1), Lasip Grande (1), Calmay (1), Pantal (1) and Pogo Chico (1).

Public Information Office of Dagupan reported that the city so far registered 376 cases since the contagion began in mid-March this year, total recoveries in the city have reached 250.

The new recovered COVID-19 patients in Dagupan included 13 men and six women.

Among the infected men who recovered were a 10, 45, 65, 20, 24, 33, 79, 27, 32, 39, 42, 54 and 50 year old and among the women were a 57, 46, 35, 26, 43 and 22 year old.

Dagupan’s new confirmed active cases included a 57-year old and a 46-year old, 40-year old, 19-year old, 62-year old, 22-yer old, 50-year old, 33-year old and 49-year old women and an eight year old girl while among the men are a 27-year old and a 47-year old  men and a three-year old boy.

However, Dagupan’s active cases (as of October 22) stood at 109 with the recovery of nine patients and the addition of 12 more new confirmed cases.

Bonuan Gueset remains as COVID-19 hot spot in Dagupan City with 45 active cases, followed by Pantal (12) cases, Mangin (5), Barangay 1 (4), Bolosan (4), Caranglaan (4), Lucao (4), Malued (4),  and Salapingao (4),  Tambac (3), Barangay 11 and III (2), Bonuan Binloc  (2),  Bonuan Boquig  (2), Tapuac (2), and Tebeng (2).

Reportedly among those recently found positive for COVID-19 are guards and inmates at the detention facility manned by the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in Bonuan Gueset. (Leonardo Micua)
