COVID-19 TREND IN PANGASINAN

THERE appears some good news in the war vs. COVID-19 in Pangasinan.

There were only 137 new confirmed cases (October 9-16) while 180 patients have recovered in the same period, and only nine died over a six-day period.

The downtrend in COVID-19 cases was confirmed when on October 16 at 9:00 a.m. – not one new confirmed active case was reported by the Provincial Health Office, while eight patients recovered that day. All were from Dagupan. There was no recorded death as well.

It was on October 9 when the downtrend was initially noted: 25 new confirmed cases versus 48 recoveries; seven new confirmed cases versus 43 recoveries on October 10; new 14 confirmed cases versus 21 recoveries on October 13, 10 new confirmed cases versus 15 recoveries on October 14 and 11 new confirmed cases against 18 recoveries on October 15.

Note: October 12, new confirmed cases were slightly higher than recoveries, 26 to 24; and on October 11, there were 37 newly confirmed cases versus just two recoveries.

Meanwhile, the new fatalities were a 71-year-old woman from Dagupan City who died on October 14 at the hospital where she was confined since October 9; a 65-year-old woman from Anda who died on September 30, after a 14-day confinement at the hospital;

Two who died on October 13: a 28-year-old man from Sual and a 63-year-old man from Sison who was confined since September 25;

Two fatalities on October 12: a 55-year-old man from Mapandan who was confined for four days; a 50-year-old woman from Mangaldan who was confined for 5 days.

One fatality on October 11: an 85-year-old asymptomatic man from Lingayen who tested positive and died at home;

Two fatalities in Dagupan City: a 47-year-old woman who died in a hospital on October 9 and a 63-year-old man who died while in the LGU isolation facilities for 11 days. (Leonardo Micua)
