YES, we are ready.

This assurance was given by the Department of Education (DepEd) Regional Office I amid calls to extend suspension till January 2021.

Dr. Tolentino Aquino, Regional Director of DepEd RO1 said DepEd is ready for the opening of public schools and some private schools come October 5, and is already in the process of printing modules for the first four weeks of classes, and set to distribute it to schools in the region.

According to reports from division superintendents in the region, the distribution process has been prepared, in coordination with teachers, barangay officials, and the parents.

“Simulation for the online classes have also been done and improved”, said Aquino in an interview.

Once the modules are received by the schools, it is up to the schools divisions’ decision when to distribute the modules.

Meanwhile, Aquino also said a psychological first-aid program is in place to help students prepare for their return to academic activities.

“The psychological first-aid will be in the form of activity sheets for the students to answer”, said Aquino.

It will be recalled that the classes, earlier set to start on August 24, have been moved to October 5, due to increasing COVID-19 cases in the country. (Ahikam Pasioin)
