COVID-19 claims two more lives in Dagupan
DAGUPAN City registered its second COVID-19 fatality last week when a 51-year-old woman in confinement at the Region 1 Medical Center (R1MC) died on September 24.
A report received by The PUNCH stated the woman suffered COVID-19 symptoms of shortness of breath and cough when she was rushed to the hospital on the day she died. Prior to her death, she underwent swab testing and was confirmed to be infected with the coronavirus disease.
The same thing happened to a 71-year-old woman, also from Dagupan, who died on arrival at R1MC the day before.
These two deaths, effectively brought the number of COVID-19 fatalities in Dagupan to four, now the highest in Pangasinan.
With two more confirmed cases added to Dagupan on September 24, Dagupan remains on top in Pangasinan in the watch list of the Provincial Health Office with 88 active cases so far, since the start of the contagion. Dagupan already registered 152 COVID-19 cases.
Other LGUs in the watch list as of September 25 are Calasiao (17) case; Binmaley (16), Bayambang (15), Malasiqui (15), Bolinao (12), Mangaldan (12), Lingayen (10), Sta. Barbara (10), Urdaneta City (9), Bugalllon (9), San Fabian (8), San Carlos City (7), Natividad (7), Basista (6), Asingan (4), Manaoag (4), Sison (4), Bautista (5), Binalonan (5), Mapandan (5), Pozorrubio (5) and Rosales (5).
Meanwhile, Dr. Ophelia Rivera, COVID-19 focal person in Dagupan, announced that the city government has set up two additional isolation centers for patients with mild symptoms and are asymptomatic in Poblacion Oeste and Bonuan Binloc.
These are in addition to the existing ones at Arizona Inn and the Dagupan City Astrodome. (Leonardo Micua)
