THE Central Pangasinan Electric Cooperative (Cenpelco) announced that it has suspended disconnection of service in homes and offices that have defaulted in their payments since the start of the implementation of community quarantine in the country.

The suspension will hold until end of September to give customers time to pay their bills.

According to Engr. Rodrigo Corpuz, Cenpelco general manager, the suspension of the disconnection of service is in accordance with the directive of the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) to consumers to reduce the burden caused by the pandemic.

He said the period will allow customers to update the unsettled electric bills to avoid disconnection after the month of September.

Due to the impact of the pandemic, Cenpelco’s collection has reached only 40%.

The said electric cooperative also introduced another payment mode via remittance services to facilitate the payment of the electric bill. (Nora Dominguez)
