THE San Carlos City government has warned its residents anew of stricter quarantine protocol if violations and contagion of COVID-19 persist in the city.

In his Facebook live message on Friday, Mayor Julier Resuello said he will not hesitate to ask the Inter-Agency Task Force for Emerging Infections Diseases (IATF-EID) to revert the city from the current modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) status to modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).

He urged the barangay officials to strictly monitor and enforce the proper wearing of face masks, social distancing, curfew and other minimum health protocols in their respective jurisdictions to ensure the safety of their constituents.

“We are all tired of this situation, please abide by the rules being imposed because this is for everyone’s safety,” he said adding that the threat of Covid-19 remains as there is no vaccine yet.

Meanwhile, Resuello said the issued quarantine identification cards (Q-ID) per household is still in effect and must be used in accessing basic goods and services in the market and other establishments in the city.

As of August 3, the latest COVID-19 patient in San Carlos City is a 55-year-old female health care worker. She is the 15th COVID-19 confirmed case in the city. (Jerick Pasiliao)
