THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) recently distributed livelihood starter Negosyo kits to 88 beneficiaries in Pangasinan for their micro to small enterprises affected by the economic crisis.

Provincial Director Natalia Dalaten of DTI-Pangasinan said the Negosyo kits are part of DTI’s “Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa” and “Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay” program to encourage village folks to invest in micro to small business.

The livelihood starter kits worth P8,000 consisted of sari-sari store package, bigasan package, food carts and salon kits.

The livelihood packages were given to beneficiaries from Alaminos City (15), Dagupan City (25), Calasiao (16), San Fabian (17) and Laoac (15).

Beneficiaries from Sta Barbara (22) and Malasiqui  (12) will receive their kits soon.

Dalaten said DTI has two mandates-business development and consumer protection, thus the need for balance and constant teaching of entrepreneurship consumer advocacy in various training sessions.

She said the department is hopeful that with dedication and perseverance of the beneficiaries, the small businesses will expand and a second or third phase of distribution can be granted. (PIA-Pangasinan/VHS)
