PNP arrests 22,096 for violating quarantine protocols

THE Pangasinan Police Provincial Office reported that under a modified general community quarantine status, Pangasinan PNP still maintains 19 border control checkpoints, 3 dedicated control checkpoints and 170 quarantine checkpoints.

P/ Colonel Redrico Maranan, police provincial director, said the checkpoints have so far resulted in the arrests of 22,096 persons for violating the community quarantine since March to date, mostly for violations of social distancing and non-wearing of mask in public places.

Among those arrested were 44 elected government officials, 5 PNP personnel and 2 AFP members.

Meanwhile, 17 barangay officials were found to have violated the guidelines in the implementation of the social amelioration program in the province.

For operating checkpoints, 871 out of 1,600 personnel of the Pangasinan PNP already tested negative of COVID-19 based on the results of their Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RRT-PCR) test.  (Nora Dominguez)
