Pangasinan lowest in COVID-19 cases

As of June 27, Pangasinan is listed as having the lowest number of confirmed COVID-19 patients from among the 10 most populous provinces in the Philippines.
This was gleaned from the Department of Health (DOH) National COVID-19 Case Tracker.
Pangasinan, with a population of 2,956,726, and currently the country’s fourth most populous province, registered 94 COVID-19 cases and ranked 10th in the number of COVID-19 cases.
The death toll in Pangasinan from the coronavirus remains at only 9 to date and the number of recovered patients in Pangasinan was 67 with 27 active cases as of July 2.
Cebu province, which has a population of 2,938,982 leads the pack with 6,386 COVID-19 cases.
Rizal, with a population of 2,884,277, trails Cebu with 744 COVID-19 cases, followed by Laguna, the with a population of 3,035,081 at 606 cases.
Cavite, the country’s most populous province with 3,678,301 people, accounts for 580 COVID-19 cases, followed by Bulacan, the third most populous province, with 380 COVID-19 cases.
The province of Batangas, with 2,694,335 population, is in sixth place with 250 coronavirus cases, followed by Pampanga, with a population of 2.198.110 in the seventh spot, at 128 COVID-19 cases.
With a population of 2,497,261, Negros Occidental is in eight-place at 102, followed by Iloilo, with a population of 1,936,423, at 95 COVID-19 cases, in ninth place.
Pangasinan is currently under the Modified General Community Quarantine (GMCQ) while Cebu remains under the Enhanced Community Quarantine and Rizal and Cavite, under the General Community Quarantine.
Health experts attributed the lower death toll on COVID-19 in Pangasinan to the improved health care management protocol devised by local medical frontliners and the early isolation of COVID-19 positives on account of expanded targeted mass testing.
Pangasinan is slowly transitioning into “new normal” with the reopening of many tourist-oriented establishments, like hotels, restaurants and resorts, including the Hundred Islands and Lingayen Beach, and other business establishments, including a few mass transportations. (Leonardo Micua)
