A one-year-old boy from Barangay San Felipe East, San Nicolas became the youngest COVID-19 patient when he and two siblings, a six-year-old and an eight-year-old, both female, and two other family members were found infected with COVID-19 last July 14.

The boy and her siblings were brought to San Felipe East in San Nicolas town by their father, 29-year old from Antipolo, who was found to be positive for SARS-COV 1 (causative agent of COVID-19) and his live-in partner who, however, tested negative.

The father and the children were asymptomatic.

Their relative, a 47-year old male, who was also found positive of the disease and who traveled with them to Pangasinan was the only one found to be symptomatic, with cough, cold, and fever.

All are presently confined at the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital in San Carlos City.

According to Mayor Alicia Primicias-Enriquez, the 29-year old father and children traveled to Pangasinan from Quezon City armed with documents, including medical certificates. They were headed to San Felipe East in San Nicolas, the home village of the father’s live-in partner.

Upon reaching the border of Tarlac and Pangasinan, they were flagged down to take the mandatory Reverse Transcription-Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test.

They are considered Locally Stranded Individuals (LSIs).

Mayor Primicias-Enriquez placed Barangay San Felipe East under lockdown and all the places where the patients stayed and went were disinfected. (Leonardo Micua)
