LGU-P’sinan initially awards 18 housing units

The Pangasinan Provincial Government led by Gov. Amado I. Espino III partially awarded today, July 20, some 18 housing units to the beneficiaries of the Villa Maniboc Socialized Housing Project Phase II located at Brgy. Maniboc in Lingayen.
It can be remembered that the housing site consisted of 129 homelots with a lot area of 90 square meters.
In the ceremonial awarding of the single-detached units, the governor urged the beneficiaries to take care of their houses as he further stated that “a happy home is a happy life.”
Noting that the housing project has given opportunity for homeless government employees realize their dream of having a home, Gov. Espino stressed that it is important that the dwellers should seize the opportunity of having something that they can call their own.
On the other hand, Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member Rosary Gracia “Chinky’ Perez-Tababa who chairs the Committee on Housing and Land Utilization, said that the provincial government’s housing project serves as a blessing for the homeless employees.
“Ito ay isang regalo at isang bagay na magpapaalala na mayroon kayong naipundar bilang kawani ng gobyerno,” the lady board member noted.
As disclosed by Pangasinan Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Office (PHUDCO) Chief Alvin L. Bigay, the Villa Maniboc Socialized Housing Project-Phase II is a joint project of the provincial government and the National Housing Authority (NHA).
He added that the 1.8-hectare housing site is a portion of the 5.5-hectare property which is jointly owned by the provincial government and the NHA by virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 499 and described in Original Certificate of Title No. (OCT) SP-1 (37165).
In the project briefer prepared by the PHUDCO, the typical housing design was described as a single-attached dwelling unit with a floor area of 36 square meters. House features include a living area, dining area, kitchen area (kitchen counter with tiles), two bedrooms, toilet and bathroom with tiles and provision for garage.
Each unit is equipped with molded type doors, aluminum sliding windows, coloroof rib-type long span roofing, painted exterior walls and plain cement plaster interior walls.
In addition to this, housing units were built on a “turn-key” basis by a private contractor hired by the housing beneficiaries. “Ang kagandahan nito ay ang mga beneficiaries did not shell out any amount yet kasi inabonohan muna ng contractor,” Engr. Bigay stressed.
Meanwhile, Isaac Bernardo, Admin. Officer 1 of the Provincial Governor’s Office and one of the beneficiaries, thanked the present administration for the said project which aimed to provide “permanent dwelling places” for homeless families.
“Natupad ang aming pangarap na magkaroon ng sariling bahay dahil sa programang ito,” the government employee said.
As a project backgrounder, the Home Development Mutual Fund of Pag-IBIG Fund also provided liberalized housing loans to the beneficiaries to finance the house construction and acquisition of developed home lots. Thus, beneficiaries will have to pay for their individual units on a monthly installment depending on the number of years that they opted.
To date, a total of 28 units were completed while 57 are undergoing construction while the rest are still in various stages of documentation needed prior to construction.
OIC NHA CAR Regional Manager Elizabeth F. Joseph joined Gov. Espino in awarding the initial units along with Provincial Administrator Nimrod S. Camba and Engr. Bigay.
Also gracing the event were Provincial Health Officer Anna Maria Teresa De Guzman, Provincial Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Officer Luchinvar Oro and General Services Officer Evan Gladish P. Domalanta. (Ruby R. Bernardino)
