SOME 9,000 “waitlisted” households in Region 1 receive cash aid from Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), among them 1,662 in Pangasinan.

The DSWD Region 1 has reported that 9,190 out of the 49,803 waitlisted beneficiaries have received assistance under the second wave of the government’s social amelioration program (SAP).

DSWD Region 1 spokesperson Darwin Chan said P5,500 was distributed to each qualified beneficiary, totaling over P50.5 million.

Chan said 1,185 households in Ilocos Norte, 4,615 in Ilocos Sur; 1,728 in La Union and 1,662 in Pangasinan received their cash aid.

He said Ilocos Norte has a total of 1,240 waitlisted beneficiaries, Ilocos Sur has 7,383, La Union has 3,196, and Pangasinan has 37,984.

“These households were assessed qualified for SAP but they were not included in the first tranche due to the limited indicative target of beneficiaries allotted for each LGU,” he explained. (Jerick Pasiliao)
