Pangasinan COVID-19 cases rise to 17

THREE more positive cases of COVID-19 were registered in Pangasinan, in addition to the 12 reported in Dagupan City, another in San Carlos City, and one in San Fabian last May 31 and June 1, raising the number of active coronavirus cases in the province to 17 as of June 4.
The three cases were from Barangays Polo and Boliney in Alaminos City and the other is from Barangay Paitan, Sta. Maria. All were reported to have a history of travel to Metro Manila.
According to the Alaminos City government, the patient from Barangay Polo tested positive for COVID-19 in Rapid Test conducted on May 28 and again tested positive in a confirmatory swab test conducted with the help of the Chinese Hospital and Medical Center in Manila.
The patient, who remained asymptomatic based on the findings of the City Health Office, is now confined at the city’s isolation facility.
As a result, the “purok” or zone where the patient resides in Barangay Polo was placed on lockdown.
A day later, another COVID-19 positive case was registered in Barangay Boliney in the city resulting in the lockdown of Boliney.
Meanwhile, the patient in Sta. Maria was confirmed to be COVID-19 positive based on the result of SARS-CoV2 Viral RNA testing using the Reverse Transcription Polymerase-Chain Reaction Detection conducted on June 1 on all front liners of the town, said Sta. Maria Mayor Julius Ramos on June 4.
The patient is now under isolation at the Municipal Quarantine Facility and will be brought to the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital in San Carlos City for treatment.
Mayor Ramos said that as a result of this development, he ordered total lockdown in Barangays Paitan, Cauplasan and Samon to contain the spread of the virus.
To date, the Municipal Health Office is presently conducting intensive contact-tracing.
