ONLINE sellers in Pangasinan must register their business activities.

This is the advice of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI-Pangasinan) to online sellers for their protection and those of their customers.

DTI-Pangasinan senior trade and industry development specialist Guillermo Avelino said, with the community quarantine being imposed by the government, many online sellers began to market their products via internet but have not secured necessary permits and licenses.

“There is an existing regulation where they (online sellers) too should seek permits or licenses and business name registration certificate,” he said.

Avelino said the application process can be done within 10 to 15 minutes and there are minimal fees to be paid.

“If the jurisdiction of the business is in the barangay, they need to pay P200 application payment; P500 for city or municipal; P1000 for regional and P2000 for national plus a P30 documentary stamp,” he said adding that DTI welcomes online application and fees can be paid via online remittance app.

He also urged business owners to visit the “Negosyo Centers” strategically located in different municipalities.

The trade department also warned that the inclusion of product prices is required because failing to do so can be considered as an act of profiteering.

Avelino said criminal, civil and administrative cases will be filed against a business owner depending on the violation. (Jerick Pasiliao)
