2,403 frontliners tested, 97% negative
RT-PCR MASS TESTING RESULTS
IF the results of the first round of the expanded targeted mass testing using the Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reactions test in Pangasinan is any indication, as of June 18 the provincial government’s efforts to flatten COVID-19’s curve are succeeding.
The data culled and prepared by Mirasol Mina of Hospital Service (MMHS) show that of the 2,403 frontliners tested, 2,338 or 97.40 percent were found negative of COVID-19, and only 14 or 0.58 percent were positive, while the invalidated results was 51 or 2.1 percent.
The mass testing was conducted on frontliners in 47 towns and cities, 10 in the first district, eight in the second district; six in the third district, four in the fourth district, nine in the fifth district and 10 in the sixth district.
The city of Dagupan was not included.
Tested were 314 policemen, four members of the Public Order and Safety Office, 398 health workers, 31 staffs of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, 35 personnel of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, 53 Bureau of Fire Protection, 63 Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office personnel, 27 jail officers, 27 Overseas Filipino Workers classified as Persons Under Monitoring,1,121 local persons under monitoring, 177 locally stranded individuals, 10 direct contacts of COVID-19 patients and 141 persons Under Investigation with mild symptoms.
The tested frontliners were divided into three batches. In the first bafch, 772 frontliners or 99.2 percent were found negative, two or 0.2 percent were positive, five or 0.6 percent had invalidated results; in the second batch, 574 frontliners or 93 percent were negative of the virus, 43 or seven percent positive; in the third batch, 845 or 99 percent were found negative while 12 or one percent were positive, and three or 0.33 percent had invalidated results.
