IN view of the coming Typhoon ‘Ambo’ and while COVID-19 pandemic is still raging, Gov. Amado Espino III directed all Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils (LDRRMCs) to review and prepare all protocols in Emergency Response Preparedness (ERP) plans and disaster management plans.

He issued Memorandum No. 2020-01 in his capacity as chairman of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) as typhoon signal No. 1 was already hoisted over central and eastern Pangasinan due to Typhoon “Ambo”.

He specifically directed the implementation of minimum health standards in evacuation centers (ECs) from disinfection, social/physical distancing, wearing of face masks, proper hygiene to hand washing.

At the same time, he ordered LDRRMCs to identify ECs particularly those LGUs that converted into quarantine facilities for suspected COVID-19 patients and patients under monitoring (PUMs) and see the proper occupancy rate.

In order to minimize the spread of COVID-19 among the possible evacuees, Espino directed the isolation of evacuees/constituents experiencing COVID-19 symptoms like fever, cough, shortness of breath, and sore throat.

He also ordered to give special care and attention to vulnerable sectors who are considered high risks (persons with underlying diseases, children, pregnant women, persons with disabilities (PWDs) and senior citizens); to consider pre-emptive evacuation based on the Local Chief Executive’s assessment and monitoring especially those families living in identified landslide and flash flood-prone areas,

And to implement a “No Swimming Policy” in the coastal municipalities (beaches and resorts) in the province in line with quarantine protocols of the National Inter-Agency Task Force.
