A barangay kagawad (village councilor) in Bugallon town drowned after attending a birthday party of another kagawad.

P/ Major Noel Cabacungan, Bugallon police officer-in-charge, said the victim, Renato Torio, 59 years old, of Barangay Bañaga, went home drunk.

The following morning, his lifeless body was found by a fisherman.

Cabacungan also emphasized that less than five people attended the birthday party, so quarantine protocol was violated

Despite the liquor ban being lifted in the province, the police continue to advise the public not to drink too much, as this may cause unexpected accidents. (Ahikam Pasion)
