27 cases recovered, 9 died
PANGASINAN’S COVID-19 STATUS
AS of May 6, another confirmed COVID-19 case in Pangasinan recovered, raising the number of persons who already recovered from the pandemic to 27 with only just three cases remaining for continued treatment in the hospital.
So far, Pangasinan has registered 39 COVID-19 cases: 29 are from different towns, while 10 from Dagupan City.
The Provincial Health Office (PHO) reported no new case has been reported for more than past two weeks.
PHO clarified that the latest to recover is a nurse from Mayombo, Dagupan, the sixth in the city that has recovered.
The three confirmed COVID-19 cases are also from Dagupan, all medical frontliners, and are still being treated at Region 1 Medical Center.
The others that recovered are from Urdaneta (4), Bayambang (3), Rosales (2), Malasiqui (2), Lingayen (2), Alaminos City (1), Bugallon (1), Infanta (1), Pozorrubio (1), Asingan (1), Binalonan (1) , Sto. Tomas (1) and Laoac (1).
It was noted that the 27 cases that recovered already outnumbered the nine persons that died from the virus: one each from Rosales, Bayambang, Malasiqui, Urbiztondo, Lingayen, Dagupan, Lingayen, San Fabian and Alaminos City.
To finally contain and stop spread of COVID-19 in Pangasinan, the PHO has begun mass testing all persons under investigation (PUIs) with mild symptoms, frontline workers, policemen, and Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in towns and cities tagged as hot spots or high-risk areas.
The other hot spots are Rosales, Urdaneta, Asingan, Bugallon, Pozorrubio, Laoac, San Fabian, Dagupan City, Lingayen, Alaminos City and Infanta.
Their throat swabs will be subjected to laboratory analysis using the RealTime-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center.
As of May 5, there were a total of 171 persons who already underwent throat swabs: 59 in Malasiqui, 31 in Basista, 30 in Sto. Tomas and 51 in Bayambang classified as
health workers (76), police officers (43), Persons under Monitoring (PUMs), Overseas Filipino Workers (6), local labor force (45) and Person Under In investigation (PUI) with mild symptoms (1).
Dr. Anna De Guzman, PHO head, said that 4,000 persons are targeted for mass testing and those found positive for COVID-19 will be immediately isolated. (Leonardo Micua)
