26 COVID-19 patients recover, only 4 in hospital
TWO more COVID-19 patients in Pangasinan recovered on May 1, raising the number of recovered patients in the province to 26, from a total of 39 infected by the coronavirus since the second week of March, reflecting a 66% rate of recovery.
Only four patients remain confined, of whom are all medical frontliners of the Region 1 Medical Center (R1MC) where they are being treated.
The two latest recoveries were from Poblacion, Urdaneta City, both male, who were discharged from the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital (PPH) in San Carlos City after two weeks of confinement.
Of the four patients still confined at R1MC, two are doctors who were infected by the COVID-19 patients that they handled.
Of the 39 COVID-19 patients registered in the province, 10 are from Dagupan City.
The latest two recoveries raised pegged four the number in Urdaneta City; Dagupan City (5), Bayambang (3), Rosales (2), Malasiqui (2), Lingayen (2), Alaminos City (1), Bugallon (1), Sto. Tomas (1), Asingan (1), Pozorrubio (1), Laoac (1), Sto. Tomas (1), Asingan (1), Pozorrubio (1) and Binalonan (1).
The deaths of COVID-19 patients were reported in Rosales, Bayambang, Malasiqui, Basista, Urbiztondo, Lingayen, Dagupan City, Alaminos City and San Fabian. (See story “63 PUIs die, only 3 positive for COVID-19)
Given the latest data, provincial officials are optimistic that Pangasinan will be removed from the list of high-risk areas on or before May 15 and its status be downgraded to General Community Quarantine like La Union, Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte. (Leonardo Micua)
