San Carlos City records 2nd suspected Covid-19 death
THE death of a San Carlos City resident with a suspected case of COVID-19 was recorded by the by government last April 18, the city’s second death case.
In its Facebook post, the City Information Office said a 56-year-old woman from Barangay San Pedro Taloy was rushed to Pangasinan Provincial Hospital (PPH) at 1.30 p.m. for her difficulty in breathing only to be sent home for home treatment after she was provided a nebulizer.
The patient was suffering from underlying health conditions, such as the history of goiter and dementia, and was being treated for pulmonary tuberculosis.
The City Health Office said a few hours after sending her home, the patient was rushed back to the PPH after continuously experiencing shortness of breath. She passed away at 10:45 p.m. that same day.
“She was categorically considered as a suspect case because the patient expired due to pulmonary disease,” it said.
The remains of the patient were immediately buried within the 12-hour standard protocol in handling suspect, probable, and confirmed deaths for COVID-19 to ensure the safety of others.
The city government has already identified people who had recent close contact with the patient, and are now under the 14-day mandatory quarantine protocol.
Meanwhile, the city remains COVID-19 free after the result of swab tests of the suspect cases from Barangays Bolingit, Payapa, and Mamarlao turned negative.
