PNP warns: Strictly follow EECQ protocols
PANGASINAN Police warned the local officials to strictly follow the protocol of the Extreme Enhanced Community Quarantine (EECQ) being implemented in the province or face arrest.
The stern warning was issued by P/Colonel Redrico Maranan, director of the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office, in compliance with order of PNP Chief Archie Gamboa and Governor Amado Espino III for police authorities to strictly enforce the EECQ.
He cited the arrests of seven local officials, a mayor, a councilor and barangay officials, namely:
- Mangatarem Mayor Ramil P. Ventenilla for direct assault of a police officer, grave oral defamation.
- Barangay Kagawad Israel P. Solomon and Elizabeth S. Rico of Poblacion, Villasis for disobedience and obstruction in enforcement.
- Barangay Tanod Eduardo Doria in Manaoag, for disseminating fake news.
- Municipal Councilor Jigur Magno Peregrino, in Alcala town for evading checkpoint in Barangay San Antonio, Sto. Tomas town.
- Barangay Kagawad Ernesto De Vera Jr. and CVO members Romeo Nepales, Dionisio Garcia, Amador Serafica, Manuel Cacho for extortion at the checkpoint in Barangay Lareg-lareg in Malasiqui town.
- Barangay chairmen Renato Soriano, 50, Romep Caranto, 57 and Ricardo Benitez, in Bayambang town charged for collecting fees from all who passed the checkpoint.
- Barangay chairman Carlito Soriano, 59, and Mario Claveria of Barangay Mangayao, Renato Perez, Peter AƱasco of Bayambang, charged for violating liquor ban and gambling.
“Their breach of EECQ protocol weakens our defensive push core,” said Maranan.
He reminded Pangasinenses that only authorized persons outside residence (APOR) are allowed to pass through (enter and exit) an EECQ checkpoint among them are frontliners (health workers, police officers, soldiers, elected government officials, and those having official functions for food and medicine preparation and transport, security and bank officials and staff, etc.
OFWs returning to the Philippines have to undergo a 14-day quarantine and are advised to quarantine for 14-days in a hotel in Manila.
After completing the prescribed quarantine protocol, the Overseas Filipino Workers Welfare Administration will issue a certificate of quarantine completion to a returning OFW before heading to his/her home locality, where he/she will also undergo a 14-day home quarantine. (Nora Dominguez/PIO_MGNO)
