PHO: 23 recoveries due to better treatment protocol

BETTER treatment management was cited as among the main reasons why Pangasinan has registered a high recovery rate for COVID-19 patients, which has risen to 23 as of April 23.

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Anna de Guzman attributed it to the provincial team fighting the COVID-19’s efforts in developing a new and effective treatment protocol that could heal and make patients recover from COVID-19.

The patients who recovered so far were confined at the Region 1 Medical Center in Dagupan, the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital in San Carlos and the Urdaneta District Hospital. One recovered at The Medical City-Ortigas in Pasig.

The R1MC and PPH are Level III hospitals while the Urdaneta District Hospital is a Level II hospital.

Based on the profiles of those who recovered, about half of these are senior citizens past the age of 60.

As of April 23, the PHO has recorded 36 COVID-19 patients out of whom 23 had recovered, nine had died and only four are still confined in various hospitals.

PHO’s current data show that the number of patients that recovered already now outnumber the nine that have died of the COVID-19 and the four patients who are still being treated in various hospitals.

Patients that recovered were from Dagupan (5), Urdaneta City (2), Lingayen (2), Bayambang (3), Malasiqui (2), Rosales (2) and one each from Pozorrubio, Binalonan, Asingan, Sto. Tomas, Infanta, Bugalllon, and Alaminos City.

The only four COVID-19 patients remaining are two from Poblacion, Urdaneta City, and one each from Mayombo, Dagupan City and Poblacion, Laoac.

Among the latest to recover was Bayambang Mayor Cezar Quiambao, 77, who recovered on April 20. He was found positive for COVID-19 on March 25 but tested negative on April 7.  He is presently on strict home quarantine for 14 days.

Those who recovered on April 22 are a 31-year-old female from Bayambang, on home admission since March 17 and another 49-year-old malefrom Malasiqui.

Others who recovered on April 20 were a 58-year-old female and a 73-year-old female both from Libsong West, Lingayen who were both tested negative of the virus on April 19 but were confirmed to be COVID-19 positive on April 8. Both were discharged from the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital on April 21.

Another is a 53-year-old female from Poblacion, Urdaneta City, confirmed to be a COVID-19 case on April 9 then tested negative of the virus on April 19 and presently awaiting her discharge from the PPH.

A 50-year-old female from Malasiqui who was discharged from the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital on April 7, was the first to recover. She recovered following a negative result of her repeat COVID-19 real-time PCR test conducted on March 31.

A 68-year-old male from Pozorrubio who was confined at Medical City-Ortigas in Pasig City was discharged after finally found negative of the virus.

The others who recovered were: 1) A female doctor of Binalonan who works at the Eastern Pangasinan District Hospital in Tayug; 2)  29-year-old male from Barangay Nancayasan, Urdaneta who had a history of travel to Japan. 3) 46-year-old male from Salomague Sur, Bugallon who arrived from Manila;

4) 75-year-old female from Bayambang confined at R1MC. 5) 70-year-old male from Rosales confined at the Urdaneta District Hospital;. 6) 75-year-old man from Infanta also recovered after more than two-week confinement at R1MC. 7) 68-year-old female resident of Barangay Telbang, Alaminos who was released  from R1MC annex in Bonuan Binloc on April 5;. 8) 53-year-old female from Urdaneta discharged from PPH; and 9) 71-year-old male at Bayambang who was on home confinement since March 16, 2020.
