IN response of the provincial government to the call of the Department of Interior and Local Governments (DILG) to prepare isolation facilities in their areas for treatment of asymptomatic patients, the provincial government set up a ‘halfway house’ at the Farmers Pavilion inside the provincial nursery in Brgy. Tebag in Sta. Barbara town for all asymptomatic PUIs initially admitted in provincial government hospitals.

The call was made by DILG Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya during the Laging Handa public briefing on Wednesday, after citing the increasing number of establishments of more testing centers across the country and the expected increase in the number of COVID-positive patients.

Gov. Amado Espino III said the establishment of a temporary holding facility forms part of the contingency plans of the provincial government to address the present health crisis and in compliance to the Department of Health (DOH)14-day quarantine protocol.

The province also assigned a team of eight employees to the Sta. Barbara Halfway House, led by Provincial Health Officer Dr. Anna De Guzman. They will be in the isolation house until April 12.

A second team will be led by Asst. Provincial Health Officer Cielo Almoite will be on duty starting April 13.

In Dagupan City, 30 modular tents have been installed at the Dagupan City Astrodome as isolation areas for PUIs. Each tent is supplied with a foam bed, chair, mat, pail, and toiletries. (PIA Pangasinan/VHS)
