Five confirmed cases recover from COVID-19
THE fight against COVID-19 in Pangasinan appears to be gaining grounds as four persons earlier confirmed to be positive with COVID-19 reportedly discharged after fully recovering during treatment in separate hospitals. Another has recovered but has been asked to remain in hospital for further observation.
The Provincial Health Office reported that those who have recovered from COVID-19 are from Malasiqui, Pozorrubio, Bayambang, and Rosales, three of whom are senior citizens.
The first to be discharged is the female nurse from Barangay Nalsian Sur of Malasiqui who tended to the province’s first Covid-19 case and fatality. At 50, she’s the youngest of the survivors. She was confined at the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital in San Carlos City and sent home last April 7.
Second to be discharged is a 70-year-old male balikbayan from Rosales town. He is brother to the 68-year-old Fil-Am fatality in Rosales who died of COVID-19.
Third patient to recover is a 75-year-old female from Bayambang who had a travel history from Greenhills in San Juan City and was confined at the Region 1 Medical Center in Dagupan.
Fourth to recover is a 68-year old from Pozorrubio town, who was discharged from The Medical City in Ortigas. The patient traveled abroad, and was admitted to the hospital since his arrival.
The latest to be recorded as having recovered is a 29-year-old resident of Barangay Nancayasan, Urdaneta City who already recovered days before his test results came out. He, however, was made to undergo another two weeks of quarantine as a precautionary measure.
Gov. Amado Espino III led the province in applauding the discharge of the five survivors saying that there is hope for COVID-19 cases to be defeated.
As of April 9, 100 persons were listed as PUIs, 31 positive cases of COVID-19, 18 were confined while nine others had died.
So far, 87, 762 were listed a Persons Under Monitoring out of whom 78, 278 have completed their mandatory 14-day quarantine, 9,144 are still undergoing quarantine, while 340 individuals did not finish their quarantine. (Leonardo Micua /Ahikam Pasion)
