Female artists honor female frontliners via online art exhibit

TWENTY-five female artists in Pangasinan held an online art exhibit to honor all female frontliners braving the battle against Covid-19.

Sarag Mi 2020: An Online Group Exhibit, was launched on Tuesday, March 31, at 7 p.m. said organizer Aileen dela Cruz.

Now on its third year, Sarag Mi is a Pangasinan phrase meaning “We Can” seeking to empower women.

“Our main theme for this year is the portrayal of women in different professions amid the Covid-19 pandemic and to honor all female frontliners who serve as the country’s vanguards against the spread of the feared coronavirus.

As an online art exhibit, all artworks were uploaded in the Sarag Mi Facebook page for the public to view.

Each posted artwork was accompanied by caption, artist details, date of creation, and artist statement or definition.

If a viewer is interested to buying an artwork, he/she will have to take a screenshot of the chosen artwork, and send a private message on the page.

“This will be done on a first come, first served basis”, said Dela Cruz, stating that once the purchase has been confirmed, a payment must be made through bank deposit.

The proceeds of the exhibit will be donated to purchase Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for personnel of Region 1 Medical Center.

Individuals, even non-buyers, are also encouraged to donate them to support their cause.

While the art exhibit sold 13 artworks, the event is open to donations to augment funds for the purchase of more PPEs. Donors send their donations through Banco De Oro bank account number 0125-0005-5805, under the name Lovely S. Bulatao.

The Sarag Mi exhibit is organized and fully supported by the Biskeg Art Collective, !AGINI, and other independent artist groups in the province of Pangasinan.
