AN eight-month-old baby girl in Dagupan City earlier diagnosed to be symptomatic of COVID-19 died on Wednesday, April 15, even before results of the lab tests could be known.

The city’s Public Information Office reported that the baby was suffering from cough, seizures, and fever when she was admitted to a private hospital last Tuesday, April 14.

“She died at about 7:10 a.m. today. A throat swab taken from her had been sent to a hospital accredited by the DOH to do SARS-CoV2 test using RT-PCR”, the PIO said in its report.

Meanwhile, a 29-year-old woman from Barangay Mayombo is Dagupan City’s seventh confirmed case of Covid-19.

She, like four out of six previous cases in the city, was also a medical frontliner.

According to Dr. Ophelia Rivera, the city’s Covid-19 focal person, the nurse was exposed to a COVID-19 case in her workplace. She works at the Region 1 Medical Center, where some of Pangasinan’s confirmed cases are confined.

“She had a swab test on April 12 but the result was only released today, April 15, by the Baguio General Hospital”, the PIO report said.

She went into self-quarantine on March 28, and was later admitted to R1MC on Wednesday, April 15.

As of 6 pm, April 15, 2020, the city has recorded two recoveries: a 50-year-old woman from Barangay Lucao, and a 37-year-old man from Barangay Bonuan Gueset.

Meanwhile, Dagupan City Mayor Marc Brian Lim has donated rapid antibody testing kits to neighboring towns yesterday, April 14.

Lim, along with his special assistant Red Erfe-Mejia, delivered 100 units of rapid testing kits each to Calasiao, Mangaldan, Binmaley, San Fabian, and Lingayen.

Last week, Lim reportedly donated his eighth month’ salary for the purchase of 1,000 testing kits and the purchase of the 500 testing kits donated to the neighboring towns. (Ahikam Pasion)
