Bayambang introduces “medical tele-consultation”
BAYAMBANG residents have been introduced to “medical tele-consultation” for health concerns with the Rural Health Unit (RHU) for the duration of the Extreme Enhanced Community Quarantine declared by the municipal government to address COVID-19.
RHU physician Dr. Adrieene Estrada said the employment of tele-consultation has been adopted to protect residents from unnecessary and risky exposure to Covid-19 virus.
She said the town government wants residents to stay at home as they seek help for their medical concerns, from pedia, adult, maternal health to dental health care.
Residents are advised to call the hotline numbers posted on Bayambang’s official Facebook page.
A nurse and a doctor from the RHU are detailed at the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council Office where the hotline is situated, adding that residents can also send messages for consultation through the RHU Bayambang Facebook page.
Residents will receive digital prescription through text message or via private message on Facebook with the advice if medicines can be availed for free at the barangay health centers.
However, patients needing laboratory tests have to present their prescription at the checkpoints to be able to reach the RHU, Estrada added.
Estrada said tele-consultation will likely be adopted post the COVID-19 crisis because of the convenience it provides residents and medical staff of the RHU. (Jerick Pasiliao)
