Archdiocese donates PCR to Baguio General Hospital
THE clergy of the Archdiocese of Lingayen- Dagupan donated to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) one unit of a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) equipment for the detection of the COVID-19 virus.
With the donated equipment, the BGHMC hopes to test an additional 360 cases daily.
BGHMC is the designated testing center in the northern region.
Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas thanked Dr. Ricardo Runez, BGHMC’s head, for the chance to collaborate “for the good of our suffering countrymen”.
When the pandemic is over, BGHMC will donate the PCR to an unnamed hospital in Dagupan City, Villegas said.
The archdiocese also donated testing kits to the Department of Health.
Villegas called the support of the clergy in the spirit of stewardship as Pananabagan.
Even before the donation, he said the clergy continue tirelessly to go to the barangays with no internet access to offer the Church’s absolution and pardon for sins. (PhilStar Wire Service/ECV)
