Safety protocols in place for Code Red assured
THE safety protocols to be implemented in Pangasinan amid the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) were already highlighted by Governor Amado I. Espino III during the Inter-Agency Task Force meeting on March 13.
Reiterating the content of Resolution No. 11 released by Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Disease, Espino enjoined national agencies and local government units to fully cooperate in the preparation of measures for the return of thousands of Pangasinenses to their hometowns from Metro Manila.
The governor underscored the need to ensure safety of Pangasinenses as the topmost priority of the provincial government.
Since the Community Quarantine in Metro Manila suspended land, domestic air, and domestic sea travel to and from Metro Manila effective March 15 (until April 14), Espino said the situation calls for close monitoring of all returning Pangasinenses from Manila.
“They must undergo self-quarantine for 14 days,” he said and stressed the importance of towns and city governments including rural health unit doctors in effectively implementing the safety measure.
At the same time, he urged all mayors to already plan and determine a quarantine area in their towns and cities.
Meanwhile, Espino ordered a one-month suspension of classes in all levels in the province in order to limit the movement and activities of the students.
Reiterating the decision to suspend fiestas and other activities in the barangay including barangay assembly, Espino said Pista’y Dayat celebration this year will also be cancelled.
Meanwhile, Provincial Health Officer HO Chief Anna De Guzman urged LGUs to closely coordinate with her office when determining Pangasinenses who had travel history and are showing symptoms of acute respiratory syndrome.
“Once it is established that someone has a travel history or exposure with a COVID patient and has symptoms of acute respiratory syndrome, please call us and we pick up the patient ourselves,,” De Guzman said.
She said provincial government hospitals’ ambulances that will pick up patients arealready equipped with safety gears.
De Guzman also said provincial government hospitals and health workers are under Code Red and all are equipped and ready to respond in case the situation worsens. (PIO/SMDG)
