PSA warns public vs. bogus census takers
THE Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-Pangasinan warned the public against members of a syndicate posing as census takers.
Ferdinand Jucutan, focal person of 2020 census on population and housing in Pangasinan, said there are robbers reportedly taking advantage of the announced plan of government to conduct a census on population and housing in order to enter a house and stage a robbery.
“They may in fact be akyat bahay, salisi, or budol-budol who victimize innocent, gullible households”, said Jucutan.
The robbers pose as personnel of PSA, and the Department of Education (DepEd) who to go house to house and conduct census-related surveys and interviews.
Jucutan advised households to verify the certification coming from the barangay chairman that before they accommodate any survey conductor.
“The legitimate census takers are easy to spot, they wear uniforms and their IDs, along with a certification from the barangay chairman. They could also be accompanied by a barangay tanod or kagawad to ensure that they can be trusted”, said Jucutan. (Ahikam Pasion)
