MATTHEW Sigel and Josefa Mil topped the PADACbo 2k19 Marathon sponsored by the Sangguniang Kabataan Provincial Federation last week when they negotiated the 21-kilometer distance along the Lingayen-Binmaley Baywalk in one hour and 15 minutes and one hour and 41 minutes, respectively in the male and female categories.

Sigel and Mil as well as other winners in the other race categories received cash prizes and medals from Provincial Board Member Jerome Vic Espino, SK provincial federation president, who organized the race through the Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC), in partnership with the Pangasinan Sports and Development Council (PSDC).

“This activity sought to increase the level of awareness of the youth on the efforts undertaken by the provincial government to eradicate illegal drugs in Pangasinan,” said Espino.

Alwin Pilla and Elaine Guismundo led in the five-kilometer race with their 19.12 minutes and 24.09 minutes, respectively in the male and female category.

After the marathon, warm up zumba, lecture on illegal drugs, boodle fight, and raffle bonanza were conducted.

Winners in the raffle draw went home with 10 mountain bikes, 10 cellphone units, 20 basketballs, 20 volleyballs, 20 chess boards, and 100 winner t-shirts.

The participants came from the ranks of the SK from various towns and cities of Pangasinan. (Leonardo Micua)
