P3.85 -M fines collected from colorum transport operations
COLORUM transport operations in Pangasinan paid P3.850 million in fines to the Land Transportation Office in the region.
This was confirmed by LTO-1 Regional Director Teofilo Guadiz III after reporting P4.750 million collection from its 42 operations in the region.
“Most of the violators were operators of Asian Utility Vehicles and buses,” Guadiz said.
The fine for a colorum bus operation is P1 million; P200,000 for colorum passenger van; and P50,000 for colorum multicab.
“Five days after apprehension, the operators were given chance to contest in the court of admit their liability and pay the fine. Adjudicated means these are already penalized,” Guadiz said in explaining the process. (Helen Martin)
