THE Philippine Navy’s Naval Forces Northern Luzon has joined Philippine National Police Maritime Region 1 (Ilocos), Philippine Coast Guard Northern Luzon and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region 1 search and rescue operation for the seven fishermen reported missing in the waters off Pangasinan since Tuesday last week.

NFNL Commander Commodore Caesar Bernard N. Valencia, Task Force (TF) Karagatan head, also ordered its members to join the search.

Two navy ships stationed at Sual fish port were among those deployed.

However, search operation mounted together with the Philippine National Police Maritime Region 1 (Ilocos), Philippine Coast Guard Northern Luzon and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region 1 was suspended on Tuesday due to unfavorable sea condition.

Initial reports disclosed that the missing fishermen were aboard fishing vessel Narem 2 when it ventured out to sea on January 6, however, they failed to return in Infanta, Pangasinan on their return date, 14 January 2020, as reported by the owner of said fishing banca, Christine Macaraeg. 

Macaraeg said she was able to reach FB Narem 2 via radio last Jan. 13 and was informed that the boat was battling big waves.

The boat’s crew members are Alberto Roldan, Roderick Montemayor, Homar Maglantay, Ejay Dela Cruz, Jerome Maglantay, Larry Legaspi, and Jefferson Bernabe.
