Lim, Garcia win anew

FORMER national team member Rustom Lim and Tour veteran Jesus Garcia of Sta. Maria won the short and hilly cycling road race “6th Mayor Agbayani Cup Asipukpokan ed San Fabian Cycling Challenge” on January 18.

Lim applied a tactical race strategy in the first 55 kilometers sticking with the main pack at high speed then zoomed past them in the last five kilometers in the hilly portion trail of the race to arrive by his lonesome edging second finisher Warren Bordeos of Laoac and 3-time Southeast Asia Games gold medalist Alfie Catalan of San Manuel, Pangasinan by 250 meters.

Lim, the 2009 Asian Youth Cycling Championship bronze medalist from San Quintin, clocked the 60- kilometer bikefest in one hour 18 minutes and 23 seconds.

Rounding up the top ten that received cash prizes and medals were: John Ray Buccat (San Manuel); Jeffrey Garay (Bugallon); Dominic Perez (Sto. Tomas); Sherwin Carrera (San Fabian); Mark Bordeos and Leonardo Valdez (Laoac); and Efren Reyes (Dagupan City).

The top five winners in the special event mountain bike category sponsored by Fourth District Board Member Riby Villegas were Jesus Garcia (Sta. Maria); Marco Lomanog (San Manuel); Jaypee Olarte (Pugo, L.U.); John Bryan Ofiana (Agoo. L.U.) and Robeno Javier (Sto. Tomas)

The annual bikefest was sponsored by the San Fabian government led by Mayor Constante B. Agbayani in conjunction with the celebration of its town fiesta. (Jesus Garcia, Jr.)
