Hog raisers in Bayambang receive indemnification fund
HOG raisers in four barangays in Bayambang town whose pigs were affected by the African Swine Fever (ASF) received financial assistance through an indemnification fund of the municipal government before 2019 ended.
On December 22, Bayambang Mayor Cezar Quiambao and Abono party-list Rep. Conrado Estrella III and representatives from the Department of Social Welfare and Development initially extended P1,000 in cash assistance to 200 households engaged in backyard hog raising.
On Dec. 27, officials and heads of Municipal Agriculture Office and Municipal Veterinarian were joined by representatives from the Provincial Veterinary Office in turning over indemnification assistance to ASF victims held at the Balon Bayambang Events Center. Households received another P1,000 for each pig culled.
According to the municipal information office, there were 1,014 hogs culled in barangays Apalen, Carungay, Tatarac and Inirangan. (PhilStar Wire Service/ECV)
