Flying schools compliance with ordinances pressed
FLYING schools operating in Pangasinan will be closely monitored for safety and security of Pangasinenses.
This was the assurance of Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Cluster I Manager Ronald V. Estabillo after members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan expressed their apprehensions over the performance of the two flying schools: Fastlink Aviation Academy, Inc., and Fast Aviation School.
Vice Governor Mark Ronald DG. Lambino urged the CAAP to further ensure safety operations inside the Lingayen Airport.
Estabillo, was invited by the Pangasinan provincial board during a question hour on January 20 to update the august body on the implementation of “no-fly zone” policy.
Governor Amado I. Espino III also reiterated the call to impose no-fly zone policy during flag-raising ceremonies and other special events of the capitol premises.
Estabillo noted that two aviation schools operating at Lingayen Airport have been complying with notice to airmen (NOTAM) released by the CAAP in May 2017 and 2018 regarding the no-fly zone in the Capitol premises, during Mondays from 7:30 to 9:00 in the morning, the latest change is from 7 a.m. -9 a.m. and still no special events named.
Meanwhile, Board Member Nestor D. Reyes cited the failure of the flying schools to obtain business permits in Lingayen.
This was confirmed by Lingayen Mayor Leopoldo N. Bataoil who added that there is another aviation school in Lingayen – Signature Aviation School Services in addition to Fastlink and Fly Fast schools who have not applied for business permits since 2019.
Estabillo stressed the aviation schools operating in the airport have been compliant to the necessary documents and permits with the CAAP which have validity of three years.
The CAAP said all aviation students, especially foreign nationals, are being checked by the Bureau of Immigration to prevent possible entries of terrorists in the province. (PIO/SMDG)
