Fewer crimes, more cases solved last year

INDEX crimes in Pangasinan decreased by a significant 25.83 percent last year (2019) compared to statistics compiled by the police in 2018.
This was bared by P/Lt. Colonel Norman Florentino during the KBP Forum last week, where he said that overall, only 1,479 crimes recorded in 2019 down from 1,994 index crimes in 2018 and the non-index crimes was observed increased by just 2.52 percent.
According to Florentino, cases of murder decreased by 21.17 percent, from, 180 in 2018 down to 137 in 2019; homicide, from 38 cases in 2018 down to 33 cases in 2019.
Physical injuries decreased by 18,55 percent, from 442 in 2018, down to 360 in 2019; rape down by 1.18 percent, from 339 in 2018 to 335 in 2019; robbery down by 31.86 percent, , from 226 in 2018 to 154 in 2019; carnapping of motor vehicles down by 55.56 percent, from nine cases in 2018 to four cases in 2019; and carnapping of motorcycles down by 43.3 percent, from 114 in 2018 to 64 in 2019.
Records showed non-index crimes rose by 2.52 in 2019, from 8821 in 2018 to 9043 in 2019 or a difference of 222 cases.
Last year, the police’s solution of cases was up by 5 percent, solved 10,522 cases compared to 9,974 in 2018. (Leonardo Micua)
