‘PASOB’, the folk practice of setting up a bonfire to generate smoke that would envelop the canopy of trees and induce flowering, is this year’s theme for Dagupan City’s Arts Month 2020 in conjunction with the national celebration in February.

 Jayceeken at the forefront

Spearheading the cultural event is a consortium of the arts community, cultural workers, the Jayceeken, the Dagupan City National High School, University of Luzon, the City Museum, under the auspices of the city’s Office of Tourism.

Gathered at the Edades Hall after the kick-off meeting are: William Macob, sculptor Pope Dalisay, Jayceeken President Rex Catubig, City Engineer Nelson de Vera, City Museum Technical Consultant Alex Duque, Manny Aoanan, pioneer artist Paco Santos, and City Tourism Officer Rose Teng Mejia. Not shown are cultural education stalwart Widmark Balmores and film advocate Noubikko Ray.

This is the first community cultural project being undertaken under the administration of Mayor Brian Lim to foster cultural awareness and promote artistic creation thus complementing the city’s commercial progress. (Contributed)
