THE Pangasinan Provincial Health Office already failed in its campaign for zero-firecracker casualty barely 48 hours after it declared its mission.

A nine-year old boy in Barangay Turac, San Carlos City was rushed to the hospital after a ‘kwitis’ exploded in his face.

Dr. Anna Teresa de Guzman, provincial health officer, said that the victim

suffered eye injuries because of the incident.

According to the victim’s father, he was unaware that his son was hurt after he lit up a ‘kwitis’ because the family was busy preparing for Noche Buena.

“The victim was confined in the hospital for observation after he was given anti-tetanus, tetanus toxoid, antibiotics, and other medicines,” said de Guzman.

Last year, the PPH recorded 25 firecracker casualties. (Ahikam Pasion)
