FARMERS in Sual town will soon begin to reap the benefits from the rehabilitation of the Logolog Dammade possible by the Adopt-A-River program of TeaM Sual Corporation (TSC) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources in 2014, via the Logolog River Slope Protection program in Sitio Logolog, Barangay Pangascasan.

TSC, operators of the Sual Power Plant in this town, through its TeaM Energy Foundation, Inc. (TEFI), provided P8.5-million for the project.

The project was turned over on Dec. 18 to Mabilay Danum Farmers Irrigators Association by Engr. Ruben Licerio, vice president for operations and station manager of Sual Power Plant, with the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) represented by Pangasinan Irrigation Management Office head Gaudencio de Vera and Sual Mayor Liseldo Calugay.

Licerio thanked NIA for its cooperation and the Sual government led by Calugay  who made the project realized.

The Logolog River Slope Protection Project has two main components, namely, a stream bank rehabilitation of the Logolog River and modification and rehabilitation of the Logolog Dam, said Jesusa Cera-Calaunan, external affairs supervisor of TSC.

The dam is located along TSC’s adopted Logolog River and it is envisioned by the company as one of its legacy projects for Sual Power Station’s surrounding communities.

The Logolog Dam was initially constructed through the bayanihan of local farmers in 1980s. It was under the partnership of TSC, TEFI and the NIA that it was modified and rehabilitated.
