TWENTY lechon were laid out in front of Pozorrubio’s municipal hall for residents to feast on to show the public that the town is safe to eat pork sold in the market .

Pozorrubio Mayor Emma Chan said the public consumption of the roasted pigs were made possible by the town’s government to help the local hog industry and Samahan ng Industriyang Agrikultura. 

According to Leny Flores of the Abono Partylist, through government restrictions and the cooperation of the hog industry, Pangasinan remains ASF-free not only in the town of Pozorrubio but in the whole province.

The residents were assured that despite the smuggling of ASF-affected hogs from Bulacan, to Brgy. Baloling, Mapandan, no local hog has been reported to be have been affected.  (Nora Dominguez)
