Demand for pork drops; chicken, beef increase

SAN CARLOS CITY – Following the panic over African Swine Fever (ASF) the demand for beef and poultry meat here increased, while the demand for pork has gone down that resulted in cheaper prices.

Dr. Solomon Gabuyan, San Carlos City Veterinarian, said since city residents have been avoiding consumption of pork products, prices of pork products have decreased by P20. On normal days, pork costs P200 per kilo.

Beef, on the other hand, now costs P320 from its usual P300 per kilo. Price of chicken also is now P170 from P150 per kilo.

The CVO, however, assured ample supply of meat, despite the increase in demand. (Ahikam Pasion)
