THE results of the verification of sources
of the firearms left by the suspects in the ambush at former Pangasinan
Governor Amado Espino Jr.’s convoy in San Carlos City are expected this week.
Meanwhile, the ballistic examination of the recovered weapons that included two baby armalites, two M14 rifles, an armalite, short and long guns and ammunition, a grenade, four M14 rifle magazine assemblies, one M16 rifle, a Baby armalite and an assembly magazine of M16 rifles have been completed and the results are expected out soon.
According to P/Colonel Redrico Maranan, police provincial director, also vice chairman of the Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) Espino Jr., said all ownerships of the vehicles used and abandoned by the suspects have been identified.
All identified past and present owners of the two cars are among the person of interest being investigated by the police. Espino’s back-up security driver Anthony Columbino, a former police officer, who was unscathed in the ambush and fled is being held by the PNP for investigation.
According to PNP regional director, P/Brigadier General Joel Orduna, Columbino abandoned his comrades and failed to report back immediately. (Nora Dominguez)
