NFA tells farmers: We’ll buy your palay
LINGAYEN – The National Food Authority (NFA) – Western Pangasinan reiterated the offer of NFA to buy farmers’ palay after rice traders refuse to buy them at regular farmgate price

Cuaresma, NFAWP provincial manager, said the agency is set to buy palay at P19
per kilogram without incentives.
“The
palay support price of P19 assure the farmers that there is a better price for
their produce”, said Cuaresma.
NFA asked farmers to bring their palay to NFA warehouses in Alaminos and Mangatarem, Ferrer Warehouse in Maniboc, Lingayen; and Unique Warehouse in Malabago, Mangaldan.
Meanwhile,
the NFA selling price for the IMR 25% broken, well-milled rice for private and
government sectors has been set at PHP 27 per kilogram – PHP10 lower than the
previous PHP37 selling price.
Cuaresma
assured the public that all its stock is in good condition.
“Handa po kaming maglabas ng bigas kapag may emergency,” Cuaresma said, reiterating that NFA will continue to support local farmers through the purchase of their palay produce, despite the shift of rice traders to imported rice due to the Rice Tariffication Law. (Ahikam Pasion)
