Mobile Skills Training for Tourism held in Urdaneta City

TWENTY-nine participants have availed of the four-day basic wellness massage training offered under the Mobile Skills Training for Tourism, a special project of the provincial government fusing the Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (PTCAO) and the Provincial Employment and Services Office (PESO) to join forces from September 16 to 19 at Urdaneta City.
The project which is in partnership with the Provincial Technical Education and Skills Development Authority and the concerned Local Government Unit, is one of the highlights of the celebration of this year’s tourism month.

PESO chief Alex F. Ferrer who represented Gov. Amado I. Espino III said that the basic wellness training which is a first-time component of the Mobile Skills Training Project (MSTP) was simultaneously held in Alaminos City.
According to Ferrer, it has been the marching order of Gov. Espino to bring employment opportunities closer to the grassroots. Thus, he stated that jobs, livelihood and trainings became the priority programs of the PESO.
It can be remembered that the provincial government launched the MSTP in 2017. A flagship program of the governor, training trucks increased since its launching with a total of four to date.
Meanwhile, in this year’s tourism month, which is held every September, the PTCAO came up with the special undertaking in partnership with PESO and TESDA and anchor on the United Nations World Tourism Organization theme, “Tourism and Jobs: A Better Future For All.”
As disclosed by Ms. Rachel Jose, Local Employment Officer 1 of Pangasinan PESO, the MSTP offers priority courses being considered for Hard Skills Training to include carpentry, electrical installation and maintenance, masonry, tile setting, plumbing and others. Soft skills on the other, hand include soft skills trainings on haircutting, beauty care and cookery.
As such, the employability enhancement seminar for basic wellness massage was launched. In addition, values enhancement and basic occupational safety was offered to the participants who are mostly housewives and beauticians.
Present during the opening program were Urdaneta City Mayor Julio Parayno, PTCAO assistant Marife Acerit, Mr. Alex Lapena who represented TESDA provincial director Cariza Dacuma, and 2015 TESDA Idol Cristina Reyes who served as the trainer. (Ruby R. Bernardino)
