4 barangays underwater due to monsoon rains

FOUR barangays in three towns were underwater as of 6:00 a.m. on September 19, according to a report of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (NDRRMO) monitored by the PUNCH.

Two of these barangays are in Mangatarem – Bunlalacao which is six feet deep, and Pampano, three feet deep.

It was also three feet deep in Barangay Malibcong, Urbiztondo; and one-foot-deep in Sitios Riverside and Baybay in one Barangay of Sta. Barbara.

Mangatarem, according to the freeport, suspended classes in all levels on September 19.

The report stated that rescue teams from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) were preparing to undertake rescue operations in Mangatarem. Meanwhile, DOST-Pagasa reported that Agno river is under flood watch due to continuing monsoon rains spawned by Typhoon Nimfa. (Leonardo Micua)
