A policeman, one of the suspects in the slaying of former Kagawad German Torio of Bonuan Binloc in Dagupan City was arrested Friday by the Dagupan City Police.

The suspect was identified as P/Pvt. Rayan Canu, a member of the Mangaldan Police who is a native of Balungao town and lives in a subdivision in Bonuan Gueset.  

He was identified based on CCTV footages at the vicinity of the crime scene obtained by the police.

P/Lt. Colonel Abubakar Mangelen Jr., chief of police of Dagupan City, said Torio was riding his scooter on his way to work in the morning of August 20 when he was accosted by the suspect on board a motorcycle along the national highway in Barangay Bonuan Gueset.

The suspect shot Torio three times, hitting him in his back. The suspect immediately fled towards the north direction.

 Torio was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his gunshot wounds two days later. (Ahikam Pasion)
