Re: “City restates claim that MacArthur landed in Dagupan”
My Dad (Dr. Pedro Balolong), in his white shirt, is shown in the photograph as the first Filipino to greet General MacArthur and his aides upon landing on Blue Beach. In addition to this “contribution” to history, my Dad was a major in the Filipino-American forces captured in Bataan by the invading Japanese army and was in the Bataan Death March. He escaped during the march and was an active member of the guerillas throughout the war as a medical doctor.
