Espino orders new PPPO director

THE new police provincial director received first marching order from Gov. Amado Espino III even before he could pay a courtesy call on the latter.

P/Col. Rederico Maranan said he was told to establish order in the province.

“The governor is right,” Maranan said. “If order has been established, the result will be peace.”

Maranan, who took over as new police provincial director from P/Col Wilson Lopez

on May 28, said to accomplish the governor’s order, he wants all policemen to be in the streets to be able to respond to any situation.

“I don’t want to see police mobile units parked beside the police station. I want them to move around so the policemen will know what ‘s happening in the field,” he said.

To accomplish this, Maranan said he is launching RED Alert to be implemented by all the 48 city and municipal stations, including the Police Provincial Command in Pangasinan.

RED is an acronym for Respond immediately to calls for police assistance, Enforce the law without fear or favor and Discipline within the ranks. Maranan said he will issue operational plans for all stations soon.

He said there is no acceptable reason why the policeman cannot respond and act immediately to calls from citizens for assistance.

Maranan said he will make public his own mobile phone number so the public can text or call him if a police station fails to respond immediately.

“Dapat makikita sa kalye ang mga pulis. Kung may huhulihin doon, dapat nandoon na ang mga pulis,” Maranan added.

Maranan also made known his plan to do internal cleansing in the provincial command and called on the public to directly report to him any policeman found remiss in his or her duty or does not immediately act on their complaints. “My office is open to everybody 24 hours a day to receive and act on your complaints,” Maranan said.

At the same time, Maranan vowed to reactivate the Barangay Peace-keeping Action Team (BPAT), to serve as police multiplier. (Leonardo Micua)
