4 more barangay chairmen charged
FOR ELECTIONEERING
LINGAYEN–Four more barangay chairmen of Bautista town were the subjects of electioneering complaint filed at the provincial office of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) here on April 26.
Charged were Barangay Captains Allan Pagsolingan of Nibaliw Norte, Rommel Sison of Poblacion West, Conrado Tagulao of Baluyot and Juanito Dacanay of Diaz.
In a complaint filed by mayoralty candidate Eduardo Ong, they were accused of being partisan and for electioneering, allegedly campaigning for his mayoralty rival.
In Ong’s complaint, the four barangay captains reportedly accompanied his rival mayoralty bet in his motorcade and campaign sorties in the town.
Their active participation is in violation of Republic Act 7160 that said barangay officials are prohibited from participating in the election campaign and in any partisan political activity, an official of the DILG provincial office said.
On April 16, Barangay Captain Arturo Posadas Sr of Bocboc East, Aguilar was also accused of electioneering in a complaint filed at the DILG provincial office here by one Janet Abalos, a resident of the said place. (PhilStar Wire Service)
